This celebratory Imperial Stout presents a decadent, dessert-forward profile, leaning into the modern pastry stout substyle. It offers an opulent sensory journey starting with an intense bouquet of cold brewed mocha coffee and toasted hazelnut. On the palate, a thick, velvety body carries layers of rich cacao and buttery toffee, reminiscent of a dense coffee cake. The high alcohol content provides a gentle, integrated warmth that supports the substantial malt depth without becoming solventy. While heavily influenced by its adjunct additions, the base beer retains the classic robustness of a well-crafted stout, concluding with a harmonious, lingering finish of dark chocolate and roasted nuts.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). Crowned by a dense, deep tan head with moderate retention. High viscosity is evident through slow-moving legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by cold brewed mocha coffee and dark chocolate. Pronounced nutty notes of toasted hazelnut blend with a rich, buttery toffee sweetness. Supporting notes of roasted malt provide a charred grain backbone, while subtle dark fruit esters like raisins hide in the background. The 12% ABV is present as a smooth, clean warmth.

Taste. The initial impression is one of decadent liquid dessert. Intense flavors of espresso and bittersweet cacao lead, followed closely by the sweet, buttery character of toffee and earthy hazelnut. A substantial roasted malt base provides notes of charred bread and dark caramel. Despite the high perceived sweetness, a firm bitterness and the roast character provide enough balance to prevent a cloying finish. The aftertaste is long and lingering, echoing dark chocolate and roasted nuts with a gentle alcohol glow.

Mouthfeel. Exceptionally full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious, and coating texture. Carbonation is low, enhancing the creamy, syrupy mouthfeel. A smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth is clearly present, adding to the beer's substantial weight without any harshness.
