Amundsen’s Apocalyptic Thunder Juice is a definitive expression of a Hazy IPA, delivering a massive sensory impact designed to be a final, celebratory indulgence. The experience is dominated by an intense tropical profile, led by pungent overripe mango and a medley of stone fruits. A distinctive dankness and subtle pine resin provide a complex counterpoint to the bright citrus notes. The grist of wheat and oats creates a velvety, pillowy structure that carries the hop oils across the palate, finishing with a juicy, low-bitterness flourish. It is a vibrant, fruit-forward ale that balances its hop-saturated intensity with an exceptionally smooth, approachable texture.

Appearance. Ranging from 4 to 6 SRM, the beer presents a glowing straw to light orange hue with a characteristic opaque haze and a luminous shine. It is topped by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head that demonstrates excellent retention and leaves thick lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of overripe mango, passion fruit, and citrus zest. A secondary layer of dank, resinous pine adds depth. The malt character is low and supportive, offering a clean, bready, and grainy scent from the wheat and oat additions. Fermentation esters are fruity and well-integrated without being cloying.

Taste. The initial impression is an explosion of tropical fruit and citrus juice. Malt flavors are low, presenting as soft bread dough or lightly toasted grain. The hop flavor is very high, mirroring the mango and pine found in the aroma. Bitterness is medium-low and smooth, lacking any harsh or astringent qualities. The finish is off-dry and intensely fruity, with a lingering juicy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable softness and creaminess derived from the flaked grains. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a smooth, round texture. At 6.5% ABV, there is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth, but the beer remains highly drinkable without any raw starchiness or hop burn.

Bij Amundsen geloven ze niet alleen in, maar streven ze ernaar om te innoveren, creatief te zijn en bieren van wereldklasse te creëren met alleen de beste ingrediënten die ze in handen kunnen krijgen. Hun internationale team beschikt over tientallen jaren gecombineerde ervaring en staat achter elk product dat hun deuren verlaat. Als de grootste brouwerij van Oslo en een van de snelgroeiende brouwerijen van Noorwegen hebben ze vanaf de startdagen in hun 5hl-brouwpub in 2011 een organische groei gevolgd. Kort na de bouw van hun eerste productiefaciliteit in 2013 met een bescheiden 10HL-systeem. Omdat de vraag steeds groter werd en de ruimte krap werd, zijn ze in 2016 verder uitgebreid naar een gloednieuwe 42HL-brouwinstallatie van 3500 m².
