Amity Brew Co Superdank
This American Pale Ale delivers an immersive sensory experience defined by its aggressive hop profile. Despite its sessionable strength, it presents a surprisingly robust body for its class. The hop quartet of Mosaic, Simcoe, Citra, and Idaho 7 creates a pungent, weedy, and resinous dank character that leads the charge. Expect layers of sticky pine and earthy resin interwoven with bright citrus and tropical overtones. The malt provides a neutral, bready foundation that supports the intense aromatics without competing for attention. It finishes with a clean, lingering bitterness, making it a bold, modern interpretation of the style that prioritizes aromatic impact and a satisfyingly full mouthfeel.
Appearance. Pale golden to light amber (approx. 6 SRM). Large, white, frothy head with excellent retention and significant lacing. Generally clear with a very slight chill haze possible from heavy dry-hopping.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring pungent resin, earthy pine, and a distinct weedy dankness. Secondary notes of grapefruit, blueberry, and tropical mango are present. Low, neutral grainy malt sweetness provides a clean background. Clean fermentation profile with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of pine resin and damp earth dominate, followed by citrus zest and tropical fruit. Low bready malt flavor supports the hop bitterness without adding significant sweetness. Moderate-high bitterness that is firm but not harsh. Finishes medium-dry with a clean, lingering resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body, which is substantial for the ABV. Moderate to high carbonation provides a crisp but smooth texture. No alcohol warmth. Very low astringency despite the high hop load.
