Amager Lubricated Labrador

Lubricated Labrador is a quintessential Double IPA from the hop-forward portfolio of Amager Bryghus. It presents an intense sensory profile dominated by aggressive American hop characteristics. The experience is defined by pungent notes of resinous pine, grapefruit zest, and tropical fruit, underpinned by a lean, neutral malt base that ensures a dry, highly drinkable finish despite its 8.5% ABV. A firm, lingering bitterness provides the backbone, typical of the brewery's bold West Coast-inspired approach. While the malt provides a pale cracker-like support, it never interferes with the sharp hop saturation, resulting in a vibrant and powerful showcase of aromatic oils and clean fermentation.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light copper color (approximately 8-10 SRM) with very good clarity. It is topped by a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Intensity is high, featuring a complex blend of resinous pine, citrus peel, and faint mango. Malt aroma is low and neutral, reminiscent of clean grain or cracker. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters and a subtle, well-integrated alcohol note.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of hop-derived citrus and pine needles. The bitterness is high to very high but remains clean without harshness. Malt flavor is low, providing a soft, bready support that quickly yields to a dry, crisp finish. The aftertaste is long and bitter, featuring lingering hop resins and a touch of floral character.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is moderate to high. A gentle, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but remains restrained and smooth, with no hop-derived astringency.
