Amager Bryghus Winter Wizard
This massive Imperial Stout presents a decadent sensory experience inspired by traditional winter spices. Rich layers of Chocolate and Roasted Barley malts provide a deep, charred foundation, while Crystal T50 adds subtle caramel depth to the Pilsner malt base. Columbus hops offer a firm bitterness that cuts through the velvety sweetness of brown syrup and lactose. A complex spice profile of pungent Ginger, warm Cinnamon, aromatic Cardamom, and a sharp hit of Pepper creates a lingering, festive tingle. Smooth vanilla extract rounds out the edges, melding with the significant alcohol warmth to deliver a luxurious, liquid gingerbread profile that is both intense and harmonious.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40+ SRM). Pours with a thick, persistent deep tan head that leaves significant lacing on the glass. High viscosity is evident through visible legs when swirled.
Aroma. High intensity. Bold roasted grain notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, and espresso dominate, followed by a festive bouquet of cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom. Subtle vanilla and brown syrup provide a sweet, cake-like undertone. Hop aroma is low, with earthy notes tucked behind the spice. Clean fermentation with very low dark fruit esters.
Taste. Intensely flavored with a complex interplay of bittersweet chocolate, burnt toast, and spicy cookies. Initial sweetness from lactose and syrup is met by moderate-high bitterness and spice heat from ginger and pepper. Cardamom and cinnamon notes persist through the mid-palate. The finish is long and warming, featuring a lingering roast and spice aftertaste that remains balanced and never becomes cloying.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture enhanced by the addition of lactose. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, prominent alcohol warmth is present, providing a comforting glow without being sharp or solventy.

Una de ellas es la danesa Amager Bryghus , que también es la historia de dos amigos, Morten Valentin Lundsbak y Jacob Storm. Después de muchas horas compartiendo su afición como homebrewers decidieron montar su propia cervecería en 2007. Actualmente Amager es una cervecera de éxito internacional. Es éxito se basa en su “gestión del caos” y una política de imagen corporativa que no renuncia al humor, la ironía y el sarcasmo.
Para alegrar el invierno escandinavo, llega un señor barbudo a traer regalos. Y no, no es Santa, es un mago con una Imperial Pastry Stout de 12% bajo el brazo. Vainilla, jengibre, canela, pimienta, cardamomo y lactosa dan forma a este postre líquido invernal.
