Sheer Madness is a monumental Sextuple IPA that pushes the Double IPA framework to its absolute limit. A lean base of Pilsner and Wheat malt supports an overwhelming hop saturation. The aroma and flavor are driven by an explosive blend of Columbus, Super Sauvin, Idaho Gem, Citra, Mosaic Cryo, and Cascade, delivering layers of pungent pine, tropical gooseberry, bright citrus, and red berry. At 16% ABV, the beer presents a significant, smooth alcohol warmth that balances its aggressive bitterness. Despite its massive scale, the finish remains remarkably focused, showcasing a dry, high-impact sensory experience that defies traditional style boundaries while maintaining a hop-forward profile.

Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (8-12 SRM). Features a moderate, off-white head with fair retention considering the extreme alcohol content; leaves thick, resinous lacing. Clarity is slightly hazy due to the massive dry-hop load and wheat protein.

Aroma. Intense hop aroma dominates with a complex blend of grapefruit, resinous pine, tropical passion fruit, and distinct berry notes. Secondary aromas include a light, grainy pilsner malt sweetness and a clean, floral esters. Alcohol is prominent but smooth, lacking any solvent-like harshness.

Taste. Initial impression is a massive surge of hop flavor, reflecting the citrus and tropical fruit notes of the aroma. Bitterness is very high but well-integrated, providing a necessary counterpoint to the underlying malt. A clean, supportive malt backbone of light bread and wheat is present but quickly overtaken by a lingering, resinous finish. The high alcohol provides a perceived sweetness that balances the aggressive hopping.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. Significant, deep alcohol warmth is felt in the throat, though it remains creamy rather than sharp. No significant hop-derived astringency is present despite the hop volume.
