This massive Imperial Stout presents a decadent profile shaped by a double mash and 22 months of maturation in Woodford Reserve barrels. Intense aromas of dark chocolate and espresso from Chocolate and Café Light malts mingle with the spicy, tropical nuances of Zappa and Citra hops. The palate is a luxurious tapestry of Special B-driven dark fruits—figs and raisins—layered over rich Munich and Pilsner malt foundations. Toasted oak, vanilla, and a distinct bourbon warmth integrate seamlessly, leading to a complex, bittersweet, and velvet-smooth finish. It is a harmonious, high-gravity masterwork with profound depth and a lingering roasted complexity.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40+ SRM). Pours with a thick, dense, dark tan head with moderate retention. Significant viscosity is evident as the beer leaves prominent legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by rich roasted grains, bittersweet chocolate, and heavy coffee notes. Long barrel aging contributes significant vanilla, toasted oak, and bourbon character. Subtle tropical and citrus hop notes from Citra and Zappa are present, complemented by dark fruit esters like prune and raisin.

Taste. Deeply malty and sweet initial impression, followed by intense layers of cocoa, charred grain, and espresso. The Special B malt provides complex dark fruit flavors of plum and fig, while the Zappa hops add a unique spice. Firm bitterness balances the massive malt backbone. The finish features lingering oak tannins, caramel from the bourbon barrels, and a smooth, warming aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied, viscous, and exceptionally chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. Significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present and well-integrated into the heavy body.
