Amager Bryghus

This American IPA presents a bold, seafaring character inspired by its Californian pirate namesake. It opens with an intense hop profile of resinous pine, zesty grapefruit, and a hint of tropical fruit. The 7% ABV provides a sturdy foundation for the assertive bitterness typical of the West Coast style. A clean, grainy malt presence supports the hop onslaught without adding heavy sweetness. The experience concludes with a crisp, dry finish and a lingering hoppy afterglow, capturing the spirit of a rugged maritime adventure through a balance of high-impact aromatics and a classic, firm bittering structure.

Appearance. Medium gold with slight amber highlights. Brilliantly clear with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing as it recedes.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of pungent pine resin, crushed citrus peel, and faint floral undertones. Low, clean, grainy-sweet malt provides a subtle background. Clean fermentation profile with no significant esters.

Taste. Initial impression is an aggressive hop-forward flavor dominated by grapefruit zest and resinous wood notes. Medium-high bitterness is firm and clean, balanced by a low toasty malt character. The finish is medium-dry to dry with a long, lingering hoppy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. A light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated into the overall structure.
