Alvinne Morpheus Extra R.A. presents a sophisticated and robust interpretation of a Belgian Pale Ale, centered on the brewery's signature Morpheus yeast. This yeast imparts a distinctive fruit-forward character, offering vibrant notes of pear, orange, and subtle stone fruit. These esters are layered over a sturdy, bready malt foundation featuring biscuity and toasty accents. While stronger than typical examples at 7.1% ABV, it maintains a classic copper-hued appearance and excellent clarity. The palate is balanced by a supportive, low floral hop presence and a firm bitterness that leads to a clean, dry-leaning finish, showcasing a refined interplay between artisanal yeast and traditional malt structure.
Appearance. Deep amber to polished copper with very good clarity. It features a dense, creamy, rocky off-white head with excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. Moderate bready and toasty malt intensity with hints of honey and biscuit. Fruitiness is moderately high, showcasing pear, apple, and orange zest, with low floral hop notes and a very subtle peppery phenolic character from the house yeast.
Taste. Initial impression is smooth and moderately malty, with flavors of toasted grain and honey. This is quickly followed by moderate fruitiness resembling orange and lemon. Low herbal hop flavor leads into a medium-high bitterness that provides a balanced to dry finish. The aftertaste is clean with lingering toasty malt.
