Alvinne / Freigeist Mano Cornuto

This Imperial Stout, a collaboration between Alvinne and Freigeist, presents a massive, multi-layered profile born from blending the robust Mano Negra with Caulfield. The result is an opaque, obsidian pour with an intense aromatic bouquet of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and black licorice. Deep notes of dried figs and raisins emerge, bolstered by the 10% alcohol strength. On the palate, aggressive roasted grains provide a firm bitterness that balances a rich, velvety sweetness. The finish is long and warming, weaving together charred malt, dark fruit esters, and a hint of earthy complexity characteristic of this unique Franco-German partnership.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Thick, persistent dark tan head with excellent lacing. High viscosity is visible as legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Rich roast character featuring bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and black licorice. Moderate esters of dark dried fruits like plums, raisins, and figs. Low earthy hop aroma with a noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth.
Taste. Intense initial impression of dark chocolate and charred grain. Strong malt flavors of toasted bread and molasses are balanced by a firm, medium-high bitterness. Complex esters of black currants and prunes lead into a long, bittersweet finish with a lingering roasty aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full and chewy body with a velvety, luscious texture. Moderate-low carbonation. Noticeable, smooth alcohol warmth that remains background-focused rather than sharp.
