Althaia Flama is a sophisticated Mediterranean take on a Classic Style Smoked Beer, presenting a bright, golden appearance with brilliant clarity and a persistent white head. The sensory experience is defined by an elegant balance between the crisp, grainy-sweet profile of a pale lager and the aromatic complexity of smoked malt. On the nose, moderate campfire and woodsy notes harmonize with a clean malt backdrop. The palate is remarkably smooth and refreshing, where the savory depth of smoke meets a gentle bitterness and a dry, clean finish. This lager avoids any harsh phenolic character, offering a nuanced and surprising complexity that remains highly drinkable.
Appearance. Brilliant golden color (SRM 4-5) with excellent clarity. It features a dense, white, and persistent foam head that exhibits good lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity of clean wood smoke, suggestive of beechwood, balanced by a grainy-sweet malt character. Hop aroma is very low to absent, with perhaps a faint floral hint. Fermentation profile is exceptionally clean with no fruity esters.
Taste. Initial flavor of toasted, bready malt followed immediately by a pleasant, well-integrated smoke character. The smoke is savory rather than acrid or medicinal. It possesses a medium-low bitterness that provides a balanced structure. The finish is crisp and dry, leaving a lingering but smooth smoky aftertaste.
