This Double IPA captures the intensity of its namesake whirlpool with a powerful sensory surge. A base of Pale and Dextrin malt, enriched by the creamy texture of Golden Naked Oats and the subtle sweetness of Caramalt, provides a sturdy platform for a complex hop profile. Ella hops introduce sophisticated notes of star anise and floral spice, while Willamette adds a grounded, earthy depth. Classic Cascade hops brighten the finish with signature grapefruit and citrus zest. Despite its 9.2% strength, the beer remains balanced, offering a lingering bitterness and a smooth, warming sensation that reflects its potent, full-bodied character.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (8–12 SRM) with a persistent, creamy off-white head that leaves thick lacing. Generally clear, though the use of oats may impart a very slight, acceptable haze.

Aroma. High-intensity hop aroma featuring prominent grapefruit and citrus notes from Cascade, supported by the floral and star-anise spice of Ella and an earthy, herbal undertone from Willamette. Malt notes are low to moderate, offering a clean, grainy, and slightly nutty background with a hint of caramel.

Taste. Initial impression is a wave of high hop bitterness followed by flavors of citrus peel, pine, and herbal spice. A supportive malt backbone of Pale malt and nutty Golden Naked Oats provides enough body to balance the bitterness, alongside light toffee notes from the Caramalt. The finish is medium-dry with a long, clean, and resinous hop aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creaminess and smooth texture derived from the oat addition. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a lively lift. A well-integrated, smooth alcohol warmth is present but lacks any harsh or solventy character.
