Almogàver / La Plaga Borraska
This gluten-free American IPA delivers a classic West Coast profile, leading with a bold, resinous punch. The aromatic profile is complex, showcasing a vibrant interplay between the piney depths of Chinook and the bright, zesty grapefruit notes of Cascade and Comet. Tropical highlights of mango and pineapple from Azacca emerge alongside the citrus zest of Summit. On the palate, a firm, clean bitterness takes center stage, supported by a lean, grainy malt backbone. It finishes decisively dry and crisp, with a lingering resinous and citrusy hop character that emphasizes its refreshing, high-attenuation nature and aggressive hopping.
Appearance. Color is medium gold to light reddish-amber (approx. 7-10 SRM). Displays brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, white head that shows good persistence and leaves light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of piney resin, grapefruit zest, and tropical fruit notes of mango and pineapple. A low, clean, grainy malt sweetness provides a subtle background, while fermentation is very clean with negligible esters.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of citrus peel, resinous pine, and tropical stone fruit dominate the palate. Bitterness is firm and high, persisting into the aftertaste. The malt character is low and cracker-like, supporting a very dry finish that allows the hop oils to linger without being cloying.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, enhancing the dry finish. Alcohol warmth is light and well-integrated, with no harshness or astringency.
