This Imperial Porter, a collaborative masterpiece from Almogàver and Edge Brewing, delivers a profound sensory journey. Deep aromas of bittersweet chocolate and espresso converge with toasted hazelnut and a whisper of licorice. The palate is exceptionally complex, revealing layers of toasted bread, plums, and red fruit, all underpinned by a signature rustic smoke. Though rich and full-bodied, it maintains a structured dryness and firm bitterness. At 7.5%, the alcohol provides a gentle warmth that enhances the creamy texture and persistent beige foam, resulting in a sophisticated, soul-warming take on the American Porter.

Appearance. Very dark brown to nearly black in color with deep ruby highlights. Features a dense, persistent beige head with excellent lacing and moderate clarity.

Aroma. High intensity roasted malt character featuring dark chocolate, espresso, and licorice. Prominent nutty notes of toasted hazelnut are supported by moderate fruity esters of plum and raisin, with a subtle, rustic smoke background.

Taste. Bold initial flavors of bittersweet chocolate and toasted bread are followed by layers of coffee and hazelnut. Mid-palate reveals dark fruit notes of plum and red berries. Hop bitterness is firm and well-integrated, leading to a dry, roasted finish with lingering notes of licorice and faint smoke.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied with a smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being hot or sharp. Minimal grain astringency.
