Almanac’s Optical Amusement Hazy IPA is a vibrant sensory experience defined by a massive dry-hop addition of Citra and Motueka. This Hazy IPA greets the palate with a saturated tropical profile, where Citra provides deep layers of luscious mango and bright grapefruit, while Motueka contributes distinctive notes of fresh lime zest and crushed mojito mint. The aromatics are intense and juicy, supported by a soft, bready malt backbone that stays out of the way of the hop parade. It finishes with a smooth, pillowy texture and a restrained bitterness that emphasizes the refreshing, fruit-forward character of these modern hop varieties.
Appearance. Deep straw to pale gold (4-6 SRM); opaque with a characteristic hazy glow; topped by a thick, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring Citra's tropical mango and grapefruit alongside Motueka’s bright lime and subtle passionfruit. Clean, lightly bready malt in the background with a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Massive fruity hop flavors of lime, citrus, and stone fruit dominate the initial impression. Low to medium-high perceived bitterness is beautifully integrated, leading to a soft, off-dry finish. Grainy-sweet malt provides a supportive platform without adding toast or caramel flavors.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, soft, and pillowy body with moderate carbonation. Remarkably smooth with no hop astringency or harshness; a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
