AleSmith YuleSmith Double Red IPA is a formidable winter seasonal that strikes a powerful balance between aggressive American hops and a rich, decadent malt core. Pouring a brilliant deep copper-red, it immediately releases high-intensity aromas of fresh pine resin and bright citrus zest, underpinned by a significant caramel and toasted malt sweetness. The palate follows suit, delivering a bold initial bitterness that is swiftly met by layers of toffee and biscuit. At 8.5% ABV, a smooth alcohol warmth integrates seamlessly with the full-bodied mouthfeel, culminating in a complex, lingering finish where citrus oils and sweet malt coexist in harmony.
Appearance. Deep ruby-red to dark copper (15–19 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a dense, persistent light-tan head that leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity American hop character featuring distinct notes of pine needles, grapefruit zest, and resin. This is supported by a moderate to high malt presence suggesting toasted bread, rich caramel, and a hint of dark fruit esters. Fermentation is clean with no distracting phenols.

The hop bitterness is firm and high (approx. 70-80 IBU) but never harsh, balanced by the residual malt sweetness.
