Juanito Polarez is a refreshing Schwarzbier that redefines the dark lager experience with a surprisingly light, approachable structure. This collaboration between Cervezas Alegría and Pirate Brew Berlin leads with an intense, aromatic punch reminiscent of fresh Colombian coffee and dark chocolate. The specific use of Polaris hops in a focused dry-hopping step introduces a distinctive floral and fresh top note that elegantly cuts through the roasted depths. Expect a clear, deep mahogany pour with ruby highlights and a persistent tan foam. The palate is clean and crisp, balancing moderate roasted bitterness with a dry, elegant finish that emphasizes drinkability over heavy sweetness.

Appearance. SRM 25-30. Deep mahogany to very dark brown with brilliant ruby and garnet highlights. Features a large, persistent, tan-colored head with excellent clarity.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Prominent notes of freshly roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate. A fresh, floral, and slightly herbal hop character from the Polaris addition provides a bright top note. The fermentation profile is clean with no detectable esters or diacetyl.

Taste. Initial flavors of smooth roasted grain, specifically bitter chocolate and dark coffee. Hop bitterness is moderate and serves to balance the malt without being aggressive. Polaris hops contribute a light, floral flavor profile. The finish is remarkably dry and clean, featuring a subtle, lingering roasted aftertaste with no burnt or harsh qualities.

Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body with a very smooth, creamy texture despite the roast. Carbonation is moderately high, providing a crisp, refreshing sensation. Alcohol warmth is negligible.
