Moonscape presents as a vibrant Double IPA, defined by its intense and multi-layered hop saturation. The aroma is dominated by the distinct coconut and tropical cream notes of Sabro, harmonizing with the zesty lime and bright lemon peel of Motueka. Citra reinforces this tropical profile with waves of pink grapefruit and lychee. A lean, neutral malt base ensures the focus remains entirely on the New World hop character. The palate is punchy and bitter but maintains high drinkability, leading to a dry, lingering finish of resin and citrus zest. It is a sophisticated, hop-forward experience with a smooth, warming integration of its strength.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light orange-copper with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves consistent lacing. Clarity is clear to slightly hazy, consistent with modern hopping rates.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of coconut, lime, and grapefruit. Underlying tropical fruit esters of mango and lychee are supported by a very low, clean, grainy malt character. Fermentation is neutral and clean with a faint, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of citrus zest, tropical stone fruit, and creamed coconut lead the palate. The malt is low and unobtrusive, providing a soft grainy foundation. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but lacks harshness. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, clean hop resin and citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, velvety texture and medium-high carbonation. Features a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated. No hop-derived astringency is present.
