Moonflower is a luminous American IPA that showcases a sophisticated hop trio. The Citra BBC delivers an amplified punch of lime zest and tropical passion fruit, while Mosaic contributes intricate notes of sweet berries and ripe mango. Columbus anchors the profile with a classic dank, resinous pine character and a clean, firm bitterness. Its sensory profile is balanced by a subtle, grainy malt presence that allows the hops to remain the focal point. This beer offers a crisp, refreshing journey from its vibrant citrus-heavy aroma to its lingering, hop-driven finish, epitomizing the hop-forward balance of the style.
Appearance. Deep gold (7 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, blueberries, and tropical mango. A supporting background of resinous pine and light dankness is present. Low, clean, bready maltiness provides a neutral base with a very clean fermentation profile.
Taste. High hop flavor echoing the aroma with citrus oil, tropical fruit, and a touch of herbal spice. Medium-high bitterness (approx. 55 IBU) is firm but not harsh. Malt is low and crackery, allowing the hop character to dominate. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering hoppy and bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from the hop oils. Moderate-high carbonation. Displays a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth without any astringency.
