Alefarm Brewing Mirage

Imperial IPA 8.2 º
Mirage is an evocative Double IPA that highlights the complex synergy between Nelson Sauvin and Enigma hops. The sensory journey begins with an intense bouquet of crushed white grapes and gooseberry, characteristic of the Nelson Sauvin variety, seamlessly blending into the red currant and melon notes provided by Enigma. A clean, neutral malt profile provides a structural backbone without distracting from the hop-forward intensity. The palate experiences a firm bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh, leading to a dry, resinous finish. This beer exemplifies a modern approach to the style, balancing high alcohol strength with incredible drinkability and nuanced vinous fruit character.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM) with good clarity and a moderate-sized, persistent white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of white wine, passion fruit, and gooseberry, alongside nuanced scents of raspberry and red currant. Supportive grainy, neutral malt sits in the background with a very low, clean alcohol presence and minimal fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a punch of tropical and vinous hop flavor, dominated by crushed grapes and berry-like fruitiness. Moderately high bitterness is firm but smooth, balancing a low, soft malt character. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering hoppy aftertaste and a clean, light alcohol warmth.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a crispness that cuts through the hop oils. Restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no hop-derived astringency.
