Hilltop presents a vibrant, hop-forward sensory profile characteristic of a modern American IPA. This expression highlights a complex blend of Citra, Azacca, Idaho 7, and Galaxy hops, delivering intense waves of passionfruit, ripe mango, and zesty tangerine. A light, supportive graininess from the malt provides a clean foundation without overshadowing the lupulin impact. The finish is crisp and dry, marked by a firm bitterness and a touch of resinous pine. Its aromatic depth and balanced strength make it a quintessential representation of contemporary hop-focused brewing, emphasizing tropical fruit intensity over malt sweetness.
Appearance. Medium gold with a slight haze from the double dry-hop addition (6-8 SRM). Features a medium-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring pronounced tropical fruit notes of mango and pineapple from Azacca and Galaxy. Bright citrus zest from Citra is complemented by a subtle, resinous pine character from Idaho 7. Malt character is low, clean, and grainy.
Taste. Leading with a high hop flavor of grapefruit, peach, and passionfruit. The malt provides a low, clean, crackery backbone. Bitterness is firm and medium-high, balancing the fruit notes. The finish is dry and clean with a lingering hoppy, slightly resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp sensation. A very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
