This American IPA is a concentrated showcase for the El Dorado hop, utilized in multiple processing formats including Lupomax and CGX to maximize sensory impact. At 6.5% ABV, it presents a saturated burst of tropical fruit and candy-like sweetness. Intense notes of ripe pineapple, watermelon, and stone fruit dominate the profile, supported by a lean malt backbone. Appearance. Deep gold (approx. 7 SRM) with a slight, persistent haze from intensive dry hopping. Maintains a medium-sized, frothy white head with good retention and moderate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of pineapple, candied watermelon, and ripe pear. Supportive background hints of tropical mango and light citrus zest are present. Malt character is low and clean, reminiscent of crackery grain. Fermentation profile is neutral.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of tropical pineapple and stone fruit followed by a subtle watermelon sweetness. Hop flavor is very high, showcasing the El Dorado character. Malt provides a light, grainy foundation without significant caramel. Bitterness is firm and clean, leading to a medium-dry finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste of citrus peel.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, contributing to a crisp and refreshing mouthfeel. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is detectable but smooth.
