This American IPA from the Down Under Series highlights the distinct character of the Australian Eclipse hop variety. The sensory experience begins with a bright, medium gold pour and an intense aromatic profile of sweet mandarin orange, citrus peel, and fresh pine needles. On the palate, the Eclipse hops deliver bold tropical and citrus fruit flavors supported by a clean, grainy malt backbone with subtle toasted notes. The beer exhibits a firm, resinous bitterness and a dry, crisp finish characteristic of the style. At 6.7% ABV, it offers a smooth mouthfeel with well-integrated warmth and a lively carbonation that accentuates its hoppy vibrance.
Appearance. Medium gold color (8 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a thick, frothy white head with excellent persistence and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by sweet mandarin orange and citrus zest, complemented by secondary notes of fresh pine resin. Low, clean, crackery malt supports the hops. Fermentation is clean with no noticeable esters.
Taste. Leading with a punchy hop flavor of mandarin and tropical fruit. Bitterness is firm and clean, providing a sharp but not harsh balance. Very low grainy malt flavor with a touch of toasted bread. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering citrus and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Medium-high carbonation gives a lively mouthfeel. A very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
