Alefarm Brewing Chronicles
Chronicles is a refined Weissbier that marries traditional Bavarian yeast expressions with the bright, acidic punch of red currant. On the nose, classic banana and clove phenols from the Weizen yeast are immediately apparent, underscored by the sharp, tart aroma of fresh red berries. The palate follows with a soft, bready foundation of wheat and Pilsner malt, which balances the red currant's natural zing. Effervescent carbonation elevates the creamy, fluffy texture, leading to a crisp and slightly tart finish. This modern interpretation remains highly drinkable, offering a refreshing fruit-forward twist on the wheat beer style without sacrificing its historical yeast-forward core.
Appearance. Hazy with a pale gold to soft amber-pink hue (4–8 SRM); features a very thick, moussy, and long-lasting off-white head with a faint pink tint and excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity featuring moderate banana and clove yeast esters/phenols, complemented by a distinct tart red currant character; moderate bready and doughy wheat malt notes are present with no detectable hop aroma.
Taste. Initial soft, bready wheat and grainy Pilsner malt sweetness is quickly balanced by tart red currant fruitiness. Moderate banana and clove yeast flavors are well-integrated. Bitterness is very low (approx. 12 IBU), allowing the fruit acidity and yeast character to lead into a dry, refreshing, and clean finish.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a characteristic fluffy and creamy fullness; high carbonation provides a spritzy, effervescent sensation; very light alcohol warmth is well-integrated with no astringency.
