By My Side is a decadent and evocative English Porter that bridges the gap between traditional British brewing and festive indulgence. The base is built on a foundation of bready and biscuity malts, providing a sturdy canvas for a comforting infusion of cacao and winter spices. Sharp, piquant notes of ginger and earthy clove lead the aromatic charge, while warm cinnamon and nutmeg wrap around a core of milk chocolate and soft caramel. At 6% ABV, it offers a more robust presence than a standard porter, finishing with a lingering spiced warmth and a smooth, cocoa-dusted dryness.
Appearance. Dark brown with deep ruby highlights; moderate light tan head with good retention and delicate lacing; clear to slight haze from spice additions.
Aroma. Moderate-high intensity featuring sharp ginger, warm cinnamon, and a hint of clove over a base of toasty malt, milk chocolate, and soft caramel; low earthy hop character and subtle fruity esters.
Taste.
