Biota is a vibrant American IPA that showcases a sophisticated double dry-hopped profile. The aromatic experience is driven by Citra and El Dorado, delivering layers of sweet tropical fruit and bright citrus. The addition of BRU-1 Spectrum introduces distinct notes of fresh pineapple, while El Dorado Lupomax enhances the stone fruit depth, and Sabro provides a subtle, creamy coconut undertone. On the palate, the hop intensity is high but balanced by a clean, grainy malt backbone. This beer finishes crisp and dry with a lingering bitterness that invites another sip, blending traditional structure with contemporary, fruit-forward hop technology.
Appearance. Medium gold to light amber (6-9 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a very slight haze from the heavy dry-hopping. Features a persistent, medium-sized white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma with prominent notes of pineapple, mango, and grapefruit. A subtle coconut and cream sweetness is detectable alongside a low, clean, grainy malt presence. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is decidedly hop-forward with flavors of tropical fruit, melon, and citrus zest. Malt flavor is low and grainy, providing a neutral platform for the hops. Bitterness is firm and medium-high, leading to a dry finish. The aftertaste is hoppy and clean without harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. Includes a very light, smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated.
