Alpine is a contemporary Double IPA that showcases an expressive hop profile driven by Idaho 7, El Dorado, and Galaxy. On the nose, Idaho 7 provides distinctive notes of resinous pine and black tea, which meld seamlessly with the candy-like pineapple and pear of El Dorado. Galaxy adds a sharp punch of passionfruit and citrus, creating a complex tropical bouquet. The 7.8% ABV is expertly integrated, offering a smooth warmth that supports a clean, neutral malt base. Appearance. Deep gold with a slight orange tint (approx. 8 SRM). Pours with a large, creamy white head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves intricate lacing. Very clear with only a faint, modern-style protein shimmer.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet featuring tropical fruit, resinous pine, and ripe stone fruit. Specific notes of crushed pineapple, passionfruit, and sweet melon dominate, supported by a subtle, clean, grainy malt sweetness. Fermentation is neutral, allowing the Idaho 7, El Dorado, and Galaxy character to shine.
Taste. Initial hop impact is citrusy and tropical, transitioning into flavors of peach, mango, and a hint of herbal tea. Malt flavor is low and unobtrusive, reminiscent of fresh crackers. Bitterness is firm and assertive but lacks harshness. The finish is dry and crisp, with a long, lingering aftertaste of citrus zest and pine needles.
