This concentrated powerhouse presents an opulent sensory profile driven by its massive 17.6% ABV and the freeze-distillation process of an Eisbock. Deeply indulgent aromas of creamy cheesecake and vanilla merge with the sharp, dark fruit intensity of elderberry and bird cherry. The malt base provides a foundation of toasted bread and dark caramel, while the concentration results in a liqueur-like viscosity. On the palate, a lush sweetness is balanced by the tartness of the berries and a profound, smooth alcohol warmth. It is a decadent, full-bodied experience where traditional dark lager richness meets modern pastry complexity.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown with brilliant ruby highlights. Clarity is good. The ivory-colored head is minimal and dissipates quickly into a thin ring, leaving pronounced, oily legs on the glass due to the high alcohol content.
Aroma. High intensity with dominant aromas of tart elderberry and floral bird cherry layered over a rich, bready malt backbone. Distinctive cheesecake notes provide a creamy, sweet quality with a hint of vanilla. Alcohol is prominent but smooth, resembling a fine brandy, with a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Intensely sweet and viscous, featuring rich malt flavors of toasted crust and caramel. The mid-palate is defined by the tangy fruit character of bird cherry and elderberry, which balances the heavy pastry sweetness and lactic cheesecake-like creaminess. Hop bitterness is low, allowing the significant alcohol and fruit acidity to provide the finish. The aftertaste is long and warming with lingering dark fruit.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and exceptionally viscous, bordering on syrupy. Carbonation is low, enhancing the liqueur-like texture. Significant alcohol warmth is present, providing a deep, spreading heat that remains smooth and silky without harshness.
