A grain bill featuring Pilsner, Melanoidin, and Crystal malts establishes a deep toasted base with notes of bready caramel and light toffee. This sweetness is expertly countered by the classic American hop profile of Columbus, Centennial, and Cascade. These hops deliver a punchy sensory experience of resinous pine, pungent earthiness, and bright grapefruit zest. Appearance. Deep copper to reddish-brown (SRM 14-16) with brilliant clarity. Supports a moderately large, off-white, creamy head with good retention and delicate lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high hop aroma featuring distinct notes of citrus peel, floral pine, and a hint of resin. This is supported by a moderately high malt character, displaying rich caramel, toasted bread, and subtle honey-like sweetness. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial malty sweetness gives way to flavors of toasted caramel and biscuity malt. Moderate hop flavors of grapefruit, orange zest, and spicy pine are prominent throughout. Bitterness is firm and moderately high, balancing the malt without becoming harsh. The finish is medium-dry, leaving a pleasant aftertaste of toasted grain and citrus resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, well-rounded texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, enhancing the hop-driven crispness. Very low alcohol warmth, consistent with its sessionable strength, and no detectable astringency.
