An intense foundation of dark roasted malts is elevated by rich cacao beans from the Dominican Republic, delivering deep, bittersweet chocolate notes. Canadian maple syrup provides a luscious, woody sweetness reminiscent of a fresh waffle stack, while fragrant Brazilian tonka beans introduce complex layers of vanilla, almond, and spice-laden caramel sauce. The high alcohol content is masterfully integrated, offering a smooth warmth that complements the beer’s velvety, dessert-like character. It is an opulent, harmonious experience that balances aggressive roast with an intricate array of luxurious, confectionery-inspired adjuncts.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Pours with a thick, deep tan to dark brown head with moderate retention. High viscosity is evident by prominent legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity featuring a complex blend of bittersweet dark chocolate, espresso, and burnt grain. Prominent Canadian maple syrup sweetness is layered with the vanilla and cinnamon-like fragrance of Brazilian tonka. Low dark fruit esters of plum and raisin are present behind a smooth, warming alcohol note.

Taste. Initial impression is intensely rich and sweet, following the double chocolate and maple waffle theme. Deep Dominican Republic cacao provides a dark chocolate foundation, while Brazilian tonka adds almond and spice complexity. Malt flavors of toasted bread, caramel, and espresso balance a moderate-high bitterness. The finish is long and warming, with a lingering maple and cocoa aftertaste that remains velvety rather than cloying.
