This Double IPA presents a lush, tropical experience driven by concentrated New Zealand hops and an innovative use of Tasmanian hemp cake. The sensory profile is dominated by high-intensity notes of spicy mango, sun-ripened peach, and vibrant passionfruit, reminiscent of the aromatic complexity found in Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling wines. The hemp addition contributes a unique, velvety creaminess to the palate, tempering the 9% ABV strength. Despite its Triple IPA positioning, the finish remains remarkably mild and approachable, balancing potent hop oils with a soft, supportive grain bill for a modern, hazy interpretation of the style.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (6-8 SRM). Opaque and hazy with a dense, persistent, off-white head that leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Intense hop-forward aroma featuring tropical fruit (mango, passionfruit) and stone fruit (peach). High intensity with subtle spicy and floral notes from New Zealand hops. Background malt is neutral and doughy, with a faint nutty quality from the hemp. Clean fermentation profile with a soft, integrated alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is a punch of tropical fruit sweetness, specifically spicy mango and passionfruit, followed by stone fruit. Hop flavor is high and complex, echoing white wine characteristics. Bitterness is moderate but exceptionally smooth, lacking any harshness. Malt is supportive, soft, and clean. The finish is mild and medium-dry with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a distinctively creamy, rich texture derived from the Tasmanian hemp cake. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. Low astringency with a very smooth, plush mouth-coating quality.
