Aerofab’s Papagayo Jet is a vibrant American IPA that highlights a dynamic hop profile driven by Riwaka and Citra. The sensory experience opens with an explosive bouquet of passion fruit, zesty lime, and crushed grapefruit, underpinned by subtle notes of tropical mango. This aromatic intensity translates into a crisp, hop-forward palate where a firm bitterness is balanced by a clean, lean malt backbone of pale grains. The finish is decisively dry and refreshing, leaving a lingering trail of citrus peel and resin. It exemplifies the style’s focus on hop-driven complexity and drinkability through a modern, aromatic lens.
Appearance. Medium gold to deep yellow (6-8 SRM); brilliant clarity with a persistent, mousse-like white head that leaves significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by New World tropical notes: passion fruit, pink grapefruit, and lime zest. A supportive, low-intensity grainy malt sweetness is present, alongside a clean fermentation profile devoid of esters.
Taste. The initial impression is punchy and hop-centric, featuring flavors of mango, citrus peel, and a hint of diesel-like resin. Medium-high bitterness provides a crisp counterpoint to the low, crackery malt flavor. The balance is firmly tilted toward hops, concluding in a very dry, clean finish with a lingering citrusy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from the hop oils. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is very subtle and well-integrated.
