This formidable Double IPA showcases an aggressive hop profile driven by the diabolical combination of Strata, Citra, and Mosaic. High-intensity aromatics explode with layers of ripe passion fruit, pungent grapefruit, and bright blueberries, underpinned by a distinct dank, resinous depth. Despite its potent 10% ABV, the beer maintains a lean, supportive malt structure that allows the double dry-hopping to remain the primary focus. The experience is defined by a saturated hop oil presence and a firm, clean bitterness that cuts through the velvety texture, leading to a surprisingly dry and lingering tropical finish characteristic of this bold and modern style.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper color (SRM 8-12). Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing. While the style allows for clarity, this double dry-hopped version exhibits a slight, attractive haze.
Aroma. High to intense hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passion fruit, mango, and blueberry from Mosaic and Strata, alongside sharp grapefruit and lime citrus from Citra. A very low, neutral, grainy malt sweetness resides in the background, complemented by a clean fermentation profile and a smooth, well-integrated alcohol note.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors mirror the aroma, delivering a saturating punch of tropical fruit, citrus zest, and resinous pine. High bitterness is firm but clean, lacking harshness. A low, supportive bready malt character provides a brief platform before a very dry finish. The aftertaste is long and hoppy, showcasing lingering berry and resin notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture enhanced by hop oils. Moderate carbonation. A noticeable but smooth and refined alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
