This formidable Double IPA presents an intense sensory experience defined by massive dry-hop additions of Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado. The aroma is saturated with bright orange citrus and vibrant tropical fruit, complemented by a distinctive flash of resinous dankness. Despite its high strength, the strategic inclusion of flaked oats, flaked wheat, and spelt creates a uniquely pillowy and soft malt body that carries the hop oils effortlessly across the palate. The flavor profile mirrors the aromatics, leading with juicy fruit notes before transitioning into a smooth, mild bitterness. It concludes with a clean, warming finish that balances its significant potency with remarkable drinkability.
Appearance. Hazy, deep gold to light orange (8-10 SRM) with a dense, persistent off-white head that leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aromatics featuring prominent orange citrus, mango, and pineapple from the Citra and El Dorado hops. Secondary notes of blueberry and earthy dankness from Mosaic are supported by a clean, grainy-sweet malt scent and a very low fruity fermentation profile.
Taste. An immediate impact of tropical fruit and citrus zest dominates the palate. The malt character is soft and supportive, showing light notes of bread and raw grain from the spelt and wheat. Bitterness is firm but restrained for the style, providing balance without becoming harsh. The beer finishes medium-dry with a lingering fruity aftertaste and a clean alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, creamy body with a velvety, pillowy texture derived from the heavy use of flaked grains. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its high gravity, without being solventy.
