Achel Tripel - 8 Blonde

Belgian Strong Ale 8 º 20 IBU
This classic Belgian Tripel from De Achelse Kluis presents a masterful balance of monastic tradition and vibrant sensory complexity. It pours with a signature wholesomely hazy glow, indicative of its bottle-conditioned nature. The aroma is a sophisticated bouquet of spicy, peppery phenols and bright citrus esters, underpinned by a soft, honey-like Pilsner malt foundation. On the palate, a deceptive lightness masks its 8% strength, delivering a refreshing yet dense interplay of zesty orange notes and a firm hop bitterness. Effervescent and dry, it concludes with a lingering spicy-fruity yeast character and a clean, crisp finish that belies its alcoholic strength.
Appearance. Deep yellow to gold (approx. 5-7 SRM). Wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining from refermentation. Features a long-lasting, creamy, rocky white head that leaves characteristic Belgian lace as it fades.
Aroma. High intensity and complex. A seamless blend of peppery and spicy phenols joins moderate fruity esters reminiscent of lemon and orange. Low but distinctive floral and spicy hop notes support a light, grainy-sweet malt character with a faint honey-like impression.
Taste. The initial impression is bright and effervescent. Soft, grainy-sweet malt flavor provides a base for low to moderate spicy phenols and citrusy esters. A medium-high hop bitterness balances a subtle initial sweetness, leading to a very dry, crisp finish. The aftertaste features lingering peppery spice and citrus notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium body, feeling lighter than the gravity suggests due to high attenuation. Highly carbonated and effervescent. Alcohol warmth is deceptive and well-integrated, providing a smooth, creamy texture without being hot or harsh.
