Imperial IPA 8 º
This Double IPA delivers an explosive sensory experience centered on a massive double dry hop. The combination of Motueka and Nelson Sauvin provides a vibrant crushed tropical fruit profile, brimming with lime zest and white grape. This is layered over a deep citrus foundation from Citra Cryo, Citra Hyperboost, and Citra Abstrax, which contributes intense notes of mango and passionfruit. While the hop intensity is profound, a lean, neutral malt base ensures the finish remains dry and drinkable. A smooth, restrained alcohol warmth at 8% ABV rounds out the experience, balancing the high bitterness without overwhelming the palate.
Appearance. Gold to light orange (7 SRM). Topped with a moderate, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing. Exhibits a slight modern haze from the intensive dry hopping.
Aroma. Intense hop-forward aroma dominated by tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, and passionfruit. Distinctive lime and mojito notes mingle with gooseberry and white wine character. A very low, clean bready malt character sits in the background with a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors of crushed citrus and tropical stone fruit. High hop bitterness is firm but smooth and well-integrated, lacking harshness. The malt presence is low and soft, providing just enough support for a medium-dry, crisp finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture. Moderate carbonation provides a refreshing lift. A gentle, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, lacking any harsh astringency.
