ABYSS Brewing Deuce
Imperial IPA 8.4 º
Deuce is a formidable Double IPA that radiates with a potent, multi-layered hop profile. The synergy of Citra, Mosaic, and Strata creates an intense aromatic bouquet of pink grapefruit, ripe mango, and passion fruit, underpinned by a distinctive dank, herbal edge. Its vibrant sensory character is supported by a clean, lean malt backbone that ensures the hops remain the focal point. On the palate, the beer delivers an assertive but smooth bitterness, evolving into a dry, resinous finish with a hint of warm stone fruit. The high ABV is masterfully integrated, providing a gentle warmth that complements its bold, modern hop expression.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange with a slight, hazy sheen from heavy dry-hopping. Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, blueberry, and passion fruit. Secondary layers of strawberry and a resinous, dank quality. Malt is neutral and supportive with a light grainy character.
Taste. Strong tropical and citrus hop flavors dominate the initial impression, specifically mango and lime zest. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but lacks harshness. Malt provides a soft, bready foundation before a clean, dry finish with a lingering resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crispness that cuts through the hop oils. A smooth, restrained alcohol warmth is present.
