ABYSS Brewing

DANK Marvin is a punchy American IPA that celebrates the resinous side of the hop spectrum. Pouring a clear medium gold, it leads with an aggressive aromatic profile of pungent pine needles and sticky resin, accented by sharp citrus zest. The palate follows suit, delivering a firm, clean bitterness that cuts through a lean, grainy malt base. The dank character is front and center, offering a savory, herbal depth typical of modern West Coast-leaning styles. With a dry finish and brisk carbonation, this 5.8% ale remains highly drinkable while maintaining a bold, hop-forward intensity.

Appearance. Medium gold to light amber in color. Brilliantly clear with a persistent, frothy off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by resinous pine, grapefruit peel, and a distinct dank herbal pungency. Low, clean, cracker-like maltiness provides a neutral backdrop, while fermentation remains very clean with negligible esters.

Taste. The flavor is intensely hop-forward, featuring layers of bitter orange pith and resinous wood. Bitterness is firm and assertive but lacks harshness. The malt presence is low and grainy, supporting the hops without contributing sweetness. It finishes very dry with a lingering, resinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily hop texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp, refreshing bite. Very light alcohol warmth is well-integrated and appropriate for the strength.
