Abnormal Beer Co. Turbidity
Turbidity is a lush and saturated Hazy Double IPA that prioritizes a multi-dimensional hop experience. The beer presents a dense, opaque character that prepares the palate for an intense aromatic burst of tropical stone fruit, bright citrus, and resinous pine, driven by a rotating blend of classic and experimental hops. Despite its 8.5% ABV, the beer maintains excellent drinkability through a substantial malt body and a calibrated sweetness that balances the enormous dry-hop character. The sensory profile is defined by its soft, pillowy texture and a lingering, fruit-forward finish that masks its strength while showcasing modern hop complexity and a clean fermentation profile.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7–9 SRM). Opaque turbidity with a heavy, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring layers of mango, passionfruit, and candied orange peel. Subtle resinous pine undertones and a supportive background of sweet, grainy malt. Clean fermentation with very low alcohol warmth.
Taste. Immediate impact of tropical fruit and citrus oils. A supportive, medium-full malt backbone provides honey and bready sweetness. Bitterness is firm but rounded, lacking the harshness typical of high-IBU styles. The finish is moderately sweet with a long-lasting fruit-skin and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, soft, and pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present; very low astringency despite the heavy dry-hop load.
