Frosty Frames is a crisp, bright Cold IPA crafted in collaboration with Bike Dog Brewing Co. This iteration emphasizes a lean, lager-like malt base that allows the double dry-hopping to take center stage. The sensory experience is dominated by the dank, herbal resin of Strata hops, layered with vibrant bursts of grapefruit and citrus from Taiheke. Moutere adds a sophisticated tropical depth, offering notes of ripe passionfruit. With its ultra-clean fermentation and snappy finish, this American IPA variant delivers an intense hop punch without the heavy sweetness or caramel of traditional interpretations, focusing instead on pure, aromatic hop saturation.
Appearance. Pale straw to medium gold (6 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a tall, white, fine-beaded head that shows excellent persistence and leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of tropical passionfruit and zesty grapefruit. A distinct resinous, dank character provides a pungent backdrop. Very low, clean, grainy malt sweetness is barely perceptible, while the fermentation profile remains exceptionally clean and free of yeast-derived esters.
Taste. Assertive hop-forward flavors; initial hits of ruby red grapefruit and citrus transition into a lush, ripe passionfruit mid-palate. Strata contributes a lingering herbal dankness. Bitterness is firm and clean, providing a sharp but not harsh counterpoint. The malt is minimalist, providing a light crackery support. The finish is remarkably dry and crisp, with a long, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a brisk, medium-high carbonation that enhances the crisp perception. Smooth texture with a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth that emerges as the beer nears room temperature. No astringency.
