Abbeydale Brewery Wanderer is a vibrant Specialty IPA crafted in the Brut style, offering a strikingly bone-dry and effervescent experience. The sensory profile is led by the distinctive tropical character of Sabro hops, which contribute creamy coconut and zesty satsuma notes, harmonized with the punchy grapefruit and floral aromatics of Cascade hops. Exceptionally light-bodied and pale, this beer emphasizes hop-derived fruitiness over malt presence, resulting in a crisp, champagne-like finish. Its high attenuation ensures a lean, refreshing profile where the interplay of citrus and stone fruit remains the focus, delivering a modern and highly drinkable interpretation of the style.
Appearance. Very pale straw to light gold (2-4 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a tall, bright white, frothy head that displays excellent persistence and leaves delicate lacing. High carbonation is evident from rapid, rising bubbles.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring Sabro's signature notes of coconut, tropical fruit, and tangerine. This is complemented by the classic grapefruit and light floral notes of Cascade hops. Clean fermentation profile with no significant malt aroma, though a tiny hint of neutral cracker may be present.
Taste. Initial impression is of punchy grapefruit and zesty citrus. Sabro hops provide a unique creamy coconut and tropical fruit layer mid-palate. Malt flavor is extremely low, providing a neutral, very lean foundation. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as crisp and sharp due to the lack of residual sugar. It finishes bone dry and clean with a lingering citrus zest aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Light body with a thin, crisp, and very dry texture. High, effervescent carbonation provides a tingling, champagne-like mouthfeel. Smooth with a subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth and zero astringency.
