This American Pale Ale draws from California tradition, utilizing a clean malt bill to platform a potent hop blend of Columbus, Cascade, Chinook, and Mosaic. The sensory experience is led by high-intensity aromas of resinous pine and spicy earthiness, complemented by the classic grapefruit and floral notes of Cascade and the subtle tropical berry nuances of Mosaic. On the palate, a gentle touch of caramel sweetness provides a balanced foundation for the aggressive, resinous hop flavors. It concludes with a crisp, gloriously bitter finish that remains refreshing, expertly marrying old-school West Coast character with modern drinkability.
Appearance. Golden to deep amber (approx. 7-9 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a moderately large, creamy white head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high hop aroma featuring distinct notes of resinous pine, damp earth, and woodsy spice. Secondary layers of grapefruit pith and floral blossoms are present, supported by a low, clean maltiness with hints of bready caramel. Fermentation is clean with negligible esters.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impact of pine needles and citrus zest. A light bready malt backbone provides moderate support, with a distinct but restrained caramel sweetness. High bitterness that is firm but not harsh, well-integrated with the hop flavors. The finish is medium-dry and crisp, leaving a lingering, resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Moderate to high carbonation provides a refreshing prickle. Very low alcohol warmth, consistent with its sessionable strength, and devoid of astringency.
