The use of extra dark Caramel malt defines the character, yielding deep layers of toffee, molasses, and toasted nuts. A smooth, lager-like fermentation ensures a clean backdrop for complex notes of plum and raisin to emerge. While the appearance is a deep, mahogany-brown with a persistent tan head, the palate is velvety and rich. A balanced bitterness and a subtle hint of spicy hops in the finish provide a refined, lingering aftertaste that honors its historical Imperial Russian legacy.
Appearance. Dark brown with deep reddish-copper highlights and an opaque core; features a thick, persistent, tan-colored head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity malt-forward profile of toffee, nuts, and licorice; complex notes of dried plum and prune are evident, supported by a clean fermentation character without burnt or acidic notes.
