This massive Imperial Stout offers an indulgent sensory journey, pouring jet black with a dense, mocha-colored head. The aroma is dominated by the warmth of cinnamon and nutmeg, seamlessly integrated with the rich, toasted character of coconut chips. On the palate, the rum-soaked oak provides a boozy depth of vanilla and charred wood, while brown sugar contributes a deep, molasses-like sweetness. Underlying these additions are robust notes of dark chocolate and espresso from the heavy roasted malt bill. Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40+ SRM). Features a thick, persistent dark tan head with moderate lacing. High viscosity is evident through visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and charred grain. Prominent notes of cinnamon and nutmeg meld with toasted coconut and a distinct rum-soaked oak character. Low esters of raisins and prunes are present, alongside a sweet, well-integrated alcohol presence and a rich brown sugar sweetness.
Taste. Rich and complex, starting with a deep brown sugar and molasses sweetness. Strong roasted malt flavors of dark cocoa and coffee follow, balanced by a medium-high bitterness. The mid-palate is characterized by woody vanilla from the rum-soaked oak and earthy spice from the cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is long and warming, showing a harmony of toasted coconut and dark roasted grain.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a thick, chewy, and luscious velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. Noticeable, smooth alcohol warmth is present without being harsh or solventy. Very low oak tannin provides slight structure.
