This barrel-aged Imperial Stout presents a formidable sensory profile, merging the intense roasted character of the base beer with the sophisticated influence of whisky barrels. Massive waves of espresso and bittersweet chocolate dominate the palate, softened by the smooth, vanillic contribution of oak. Deep layers of dried fruit—notably plum and raisin—provide a dark sweetness that counters a punchy, resinous hop bitterness. The whisky aging introduces a refined warmth and charred wood depth, elevating the complex malt backbone. It finishes long and warming, balancing its viscous weight with a lingering, roasty, and espirituous intensity typical of a well-matured strong ale.

Appearance. Opaque, jet black (SRM 40+) with a thick, creamy, deep tan head that shows moderate retention. High viscosity is evident in the slow-moving legs on the glass.

Aroma. Intense and complex. Dominant aromas of roasted coffee beans, dark cocoa, and charred oak are layered with the distinct sweet-spirit note of whisky. Moderate esters of dried figs and prunes are present, alongside a bold, earthy, and piney hop presence. A clean, warming alcohol note integrates seamlessly.

Taste. Rich and assertive. Initial flavors of burnt grain, espresso, and dark chocolate are followed by whisky-soaked oak and vanilla. The mid-palate reveals dark fruit depth.
