8 Wired Future Shock is a vibrant American IPA that leans into the classic West Coast archetype with a crisp, golden profile. The hop bouquet is a sophisticated layer of citrus and candied orange driven by Amarillo and Superdelic, while Columbus and Simcoe provide a foundational resinous pine and subtle earthiness. A clean, light malt presence allows the hop-derived notes of stone fruit and tropical berries to take center stage. It finishes remarkably dry and bitter, showcasing the interplay between its punchy hop oils and a sleek, medium-light body, making it both refreshing and assertive.
Appearance. Radiant medium gold with brilliant clarity. Pours with a dense, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring prominent candied orange and grapefruit zest from Amarillo, complemented by Simcoe's distinct pine resin. Superdelic adds layers of tropical fruit and berry. Malt is low and neutral, presenting as clean cracker, while the fermentation profile remains exceptionally clean.
Taste. Initial impression of sharp, clean bitterness that persists into the finish. Hop flavors of orange peel, resinous pine from Columbus, and tropical melon dominate the palate. Malt flavor is low, providing just enough grainy sweetness to support the high hop load. Finishes very dry and crisp with a lingering, clean hop-driven bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high, contributing to a lively mouthfeel. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but subtle.
