8 Wired Double Imperial iStout
This massive Imperial Stout celebrates eleven years of craft with an amplified profile that truly turns the dial to eleven. It pours an impenetrable black, releasing a high-intensity aroma of bittersweet dark chocolate and heavy roasted grain. The palate is an indulgent, huge chocolatey roasty experience, featuring deep layers of espresso and cocoa balanced by a firm hop bitterness. Intended to warm the cockles of one's heart, the 15% ABV provides a significant yet smooth alcohol warmth that permeates the velvety, viscous body. Dark fruit esters of plum and black currant add complexity to this decadently rich and harmonious stout.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40+ SRM) with a thick, persistent deep tan head. High alcohol and viscosity are evident by the slow-moving legs visible on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity and complex; dominated by rich dark chocolate, espresso, and roasted grain. Moderate esters present as dried plums and black currants, accompanied by a noticeable but well-integrated vinous alcohol character and low earthy hops.
Taste. Intense flavors of bittersweet cocoa and heavily roasted malts lead the profile. Mid-palate features dark fruit esters and a hint of molasses sweetness, balanced by a firm, aggressively high bitterness. The finish is long and warming with lingering notes of baker's chocolate and toast.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally viscous with a chewy, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-low. A smooth, prominent alcohol warmth is present throughout, providing a comforting heat without harshness.
