5e Baron Nectar presents as a luscious Double IPA, merging the stone fruit intensity of Nectaron hops with the elegant vinous profile of Viognier must. The sensory experience is defined by saturated notes of very ripe apricot, peach, and pear, underpinned by tropical layers of mango and pineapple. This marriage of grape and hop creates a sophisticated white wine character that persists through the palate. Despite its strength, the beer maintains a soft, round profile with a notably restrained bitterness, allowing the lush fruit sugars and smooth 9% alcohol warmth to command a long, opulent finish.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange; prominently hazy with an opaque quality. Topped by a dense, persistent white head with fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by ripe peach, apricot, and floral white wine esters. Secondary notes of pineapple and mango from the Nectaron hops are supported by a clean, grainy malt background and a soft, vinous sweetness.
Taste. Bold stone fruit flavors of apricot and peach take center stage, complemented by pear and subtle tropical mango. Bitterness is exceptionally low for the style, leaning into a juicy, fruit-forward balance. A clean fermentation profile allows the Viognier must's influence to shine. The finish is lingering and fruity with a smooth, well-integrated alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a very round, silky texture. Carbonation is low, enhancing the creamy mouthfeel. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present, devoid of any harshness or astringency.
