American Amber Ale 5.2 º 31 IBU
102 Amber Ale presents a harmonious fusion of a classic American Amber Ale base with the unique inclusion of Patagonian Calafate fruit. On the nose, citrusy and floral hop notes from American and Oceania varieties intertwine with a dark berry-like fruitiness and moderate fermentation esters. The palate is defined by a sturdy caramel malt backbone that balances the earthy, sweet-tart nuances of the calafate. A moderate bitterness provides structure without overwhelming the fruit's delicate integration. This copper-hued Fruit Beer finishes smoothly with a lingering interplay of toasted malt and subtle forest fruit, offering a refined, medium-bodied experience that honors its Patagonian influence.
Appearance. Amber to copper-brown in color (SRM 11–17) with a moderately large, off-white head that demonstrates good retention and lacing. Clarity is generally clear, though it may show a subtle ruby-hued brilliance from the fruit addition.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a complex blend of caramel malt and citrusy, floral, and tropical hop notes. The calafate fruit adds a distinctive dark berry aroma. Moderate fermentation esters are present, complementing the hop and fruit profile without dominating the toasted malt character.
Taste. Initial impression is a balance of malt sweetness and fruity character. Moderate caramel malt flavors support notes of citrus and tropical fruit from American and Oceania hops. The calafate fruit provides a unique berry-like depth that is well-integrated. Bitterness is moderate and balanced against the malt sweetness, leading to a smooth, medium-full finish where caramel and fruit flavors persist.
Mouthfeel. Medium to medium-full body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouthfeel that cleanses the palate. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated at 5.2% ABV.
