Resultatet er en kompleks og forførende øl med en dyb rød farve og et cremet hoved. Duften af Duchesse Chocolate Cherry er en raffineret kombination af sure kirsebær, sød chokolade, træ og eddike.

La Brouwerij Verhaeghe es una pequeña cervecería familiar en la provincia de Flandes Occidental (Bélgica), su historia se remonta a 1885 cuando se fundó como una cervecería-malterie por Paul Verhaeghe. La mayoría de las cervecerías belgas de esta época organizaron sus ventas en las inmediaciones de la fábrica pero, a través de una línea ferroviaria que une Vichte con Bruselas, Verhaeghe pudo vender una parte importante de su producción en el mercado de Bruselas. Después de cuatro años de inactividad debido a la I Guerra Mundial, la fábrica perdió todos sus clientes en Bruselas, lo que supuso tener que crear un equipo de producción completamente nuevo para intentar recuperar los años perdidos. En el período de posguerra, la cervecería se mantuvo unida a nivel regional y se adaptó a las nuevas tendencias del mercado, dando lugar a su primera cerveza de baja fermentación mientras mejoraba la calidad de las ya existentes ales. Actualmente, no solo en Bélgica, sino también fuera de sus fronteras, la demanda aumenta en lo que respecta a cervezas de alta calidad con una identidad única, y este es el claro ejemplo de Verhaeghe. El gran éxito comercial de su "Duchesse de Borgogne" es la mejor prueba de ello. Una cerveza con forma de bombón cherry
Vista: Color castaño con ribetes rojizos, profundo y brillante, con una espuma fina y delicada. Olfato: Aromas a cereza, chocolate, vainilla y fruta de la pasión. Gusto: Sabor fresco y afrutado de malta, acompañado de un toque de dulzor y acidez de las cerezas y ligeras notas de roble de su emvejecimiento en barrica. Y por supuesto, ¡chocolate!

Curiosidad: elaborada únicamente con cerezas belgas auténticas (sin potenciadores del sabor ni extractos de cereza). La fruta proviene de la región de Sint-Truiden en Limburgo (Bélgica). La cerveza básica de la «Chocolate Duchesse Cherry» es un marrón rojizo de Flandes Occidental con fermentación mixta, con una base de cerveza de alta fermentación, que pasa a envejecer en barricas de roble, donde se somete a una segunda fermentación espontánea. Los taninos de las barricas (muy grandes que se utilizan para almacenar grandes vinos de Burdeos) dan a Chocolate Duchesse Cherry su característico sabor. Cuando la cerveza base está lista, el maestro cervecero agrega 20 kg de «Kriek Gorsem» (guindas belgas) por cada 100 litros a la cerveza. La cerveza macera con las cerezas durante 6 meses. Las cerezas dan un sabor fresco y afrutado a la cerveza con una base agridulce. Después de 24 meses de elaboración y justo antes del embotellado, se añade a la cerveza un destilado de cacao natural que ablanda la cerveza (sin exagerar) y le da un sabor a chocolate.
